World Series Final Game Captures 51 Million Audience Members In the US, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The nail-biting 11-inning contest where the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a total 51M spectators across the United States, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB announced this is the most-watched World Series Game 7 after the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Twins and Braves.

Television Viewership Details

The Saturday epic game drew 27.33M audience members on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the top-rated Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a 16% increase compared to the last Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked 4th, the fourth game was 7th, Game 5 was 8th, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the game recorded over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English-language program in Canada after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game began at 9 p.m. local time, it averaged 12 million viewers. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six frames – drew 13.1 million spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-game World Series averaged over 15.7 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience growth for two straight seasons.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the total American average reached 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew over 8 million viewers, an eight percent increase compared to the previous year and the network’s strongest postseason ratings since 2017.

MLB announced that the World Series was televised in 203 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 various languages.
